I was very careful to hook them up right the first time as install instructions warn you of blowing the pump if hooked up in reverse.
If as you say the battery is ok (it should read approx. 12.6 volts), I Would disconnect the pump wires and measure the voltage. If the open wires read full voltage the pump most likely is defective.
