As this is my first post I apologize for any errors I make up front.My wife and I have been camping off and on throughout the years. We decided in October to purchase a used 34' 2007 Winnebago Voyage with 24,100 miles on it. So far we are pleased with what we bought and knew getting into it we needed to spend some money to make ours. First major purchase, new tires. That Michelin Man is proud of his tires. The original tires were DOT dated 2106 and looked like they have never seen shade or tire covers. The tire tech was surprised one had not blown yet. So as this is my first post I do have a question for anyone who has an answer. Valve stem extensions.....what are your thoughts for the rear duels? We have steal rims with simulators and both the outside and inside tire valve stems are hard to get at. I had the tire store put new valve stems in, no not rubber ones but steel. I hear lots of rumblings about valve extenders leaking and other horror stories.thoughts?

I had one extender leak when new. Replaced it and no further problems. Wouldn't be without them.

I have to have extenders, and I will be adding tmps soon also, as at 62 years old, it's just getting a bit harder to crawl around under the RV. Although once I m under there, it still is fun. ( sorry that sounds a bit filthy)I insist on checking the psi often, and although I haven't encountered any major problems yet, there is always something lurking around the next corner.Good luck with your new ride!

Used Extenders for years with no problems last set of new tires I had dually valves installed no more need for extenders. To bad you didn't ask this question before the new tires you could have had the dually valves installed then. But that's the great thing about hindsight.

As long as you have installed metal valve stems your problems should be minimal. As I found out many years ago the rubber valve stems will saw themselves in half with the vibration caused by extenders.

On my previous rig I used NAPA braided stainless steel extenders for 4 years with no problems. I currently use the long metal valve stems as identified above and that would be something to consider next time around.Lou05 Travel Supreme Envoy

I got them on my motorhome. Like was said already - make sure you've got metal valve stems and buy a good brand like WheelMaster.

I don't have any problem without extenders. You just need a long dual foot air gauge and air chuck. I prefer to keep it simple. The less complexity, the better. One less thing to go wrong.

I have extenders on my currant rig and I check the psi before every trip. Takes 15 minutes at most including dragging out the small air compressor. On my prior rig I bought a set of stainless extenders but never put them on because I would of had to pull the outer rear of the duals. What I did then was use one braided extender that was supposed to go on the inner wheels as an extension hose. I was able to get my hand inside of the wheel holes to remove the valve cap, screw on the extension extender hose. check and adjust air as needed. Worked great in lieu of having the extenders mounted.

Thank you for everyone who responded.

Yes we have metal valve stems, I requested that when they put on the new tires. I put on the extenders yesterday afternoon. Got them good and tight and just re-checked the air pressure and with almost 24 hours I have zero air loss.

Will be taking it for a quick road trip Saturday and see how they work out. I had heard they can work loose while driving. I was advised by the tire store to add a little Loctite blue to the thread to help stop the extender from loosening up.

If your worried about them coming loose put a drop of Blue lock-tight on each one.
