newmar 2005, engine wont crank over and no voltage

We havea Newmar Kountry Star 2005 , we camped a few weeks ago and on the way home stopped and the engine would not crank over , we spent an hour playing with batteries and the ignition as the ignition...

A simple way to check your battery is to turn the headlights on and while someone watches them try cranking. If the headlights go out your battery is bad or you have bad connections. My generator starting battery is the same as the engine battery so it not starting says you have a bad engine battery/connections not your start switch.
It bothers me that you got it to work for a while which tends to be a bad starter solenoid.
