Newmar question

I’m looking at a 2016 Newmar mountain aire. It’s a 4553 model, and the selling dealer say it’s a 500hp. All the brochures and information I can find says it’s 600hp. Anyone know for sure? I have the vin if that helps. Thanks all
  • It depends on the engine, not sure what was offered at that time. As mentioned above, the X12 will be around 450 - 500 hp, and the X15 will be in the 600-605 hp range. As far as I recall, the X15 may not have been available in the MADPs, so it may be an X12. Either one of those engines are fantastic, but the X15 is in a class of its own IMHO.
  • Thank you Joe. I couldn’t find that. Answers my question, I guess I was looking at a different brochure

Take it out for a drive and see if the performance is adequate for your needs. We aren't in a race anyway, so if you are comfortable with it while cruising and hitting some reasonable hills, it should work.
  • Call Newmar with the VIN, they can answer your question. It doesn't really matter, both will work fine.
  • Just look at the engine. It will be marked probably on the timing cover, ISM or ISX. Problem solved.
