No 12 volt power

2004 four winds 28' class c, checking for first outing of the year, no 12 volt power, test light lights at cables & junction near coach battery, does not light at cables going into convertor
  • Tip: Check electrolyte level , every other month, in each battery cell and add distilled water from the market, with a "turkey baster" battery filler, from Auto supply store, to at least cover the plates. Keep batteries fully charged with trickle charger for longest useful life and ability to start generator. Keep all connections clean for good electrical contact. Use a battery terminal cleaner device. It's handy to have a cheap digital multi-meter (Harbor Freight) to check battery voltages while being charged (around 14 volts DC ) and resting (around 13.6 volts DC). A dead battery will read 12 volts or less.
  • Glad you figured it out, it sounds like you followed a good rule of 12V wiring troubleshooting- check and clean all connections before you replace anything!
  • Thanks for the replies, found a corroded connection
  • Make sure you haven't accidentally triggered the battery shut off - location can vary. In my rig it's a toggle switch by the drivers left knee. Also - there maybe an auto reset circuit breaker (usually located near battery) - if that goes toes up then no juice gets to/from the battery. It doesn't look like typical circuit breaker so use google.
  • No 12 volt lights even with 110 power plugged in
  • sounds like the battery shut off solenoid did not work. try jumping around it see if that works.. mine did that after a period in storage.does it work with the motor running??
