No lights in bathroom

It's a 1999 Winnebago Adventurer & this was an item I just noticed today while loading up the coach for our maiden trip on the 15th.
I'm not the best with electrical issues, so where do I start hunting this down? Pull one of the light bulbs & check for power, or start with a fuse box? Any help & opinions accepted with gratitude.
Just don't want to end up being shocked. (again):E
  • My bathroom has both a fluorescent light (120V, on the GFCI circuit) and 12V lights. So the answer to the question depends on which type is out - 12V or 120V.

When I first got my Allegro, the fluorescent light in the bathroom didn't work. After buying a new bulb and ballast I noticed the GFCI outlet in the bedroom. Oops. That's all it was.

Later on, I lost the 12V bathroom lights BUT I also lost bedroom lights as well. If only your 12V light(s) in the bath are out, it's likely at the light itself (bulb, switch, etc.) since it's not likely that a single 12V bathroom light will be on its own circuit. In my case it was a wire shorted somewhere in the walls or ceiling so I had to rewire the thing the whole way back to the fuse box.
  • Check the fuse box under the refrig on your 1999 Winnie. Bet one is tripped. The light switch for the vanity light is on the right side of the sink. The ceiling lights have to be turned on at the light before the switch on the wall will work.

No, push in the GF button on the 120 volt receptacle in the bathroom or in the kitchen. If that doesn't work then got to the fuse box. Usually simple problem. See the little button below.

Always love the "GFCI" croud. Lights in an RV are usually 12 volt and the GFCI has nothing to do with them.

To the O/P. if the other lights in the house work and assuming these are indeed 12 volt.. Make sure there is not a switch on the lamp itself,,, In my coach there is a wall switch, right where you would expect to find a wall switch if you walked into a pitch black room, and there is a 2nd switch ON THE LAMP ITSELF, both must be on.

This applies to both bathrooms (Bath and a half model) and to the lights in the living room and bedroom (Well some of them)

  • If they are fluorescent lights you may have a switch on the light fixture itself, in addition to the wall switch. If the switch on the light fixture is turned off, the wall switch will not turn the lights on.

More than likely they are 12V... do not screw in so no shocking. What numbers are on the bulbs? Probably in the bedroom you'll find your 12V converter/fuse panel... just listen for the hum if on shore power to find it. Pull each fuse and look to see if it's blown... replace with same size.
  • If fluorescent lights change both bulbs out. Also most fluorescent light fixtures have a switch right at the light and another on the wall. Check to see that somebody did not turn the switch at the fixture to the off position.

If it is 12 volt circuit it should also have a fuse at the fuse box. If it is AC power then it will have a circuit breaker instead of a fuse.
  • Go to your DC Dist Panel and check fuses.........12V DC lights. Should be on a 15A fused circuit.
  • What type of bulbs are in the fixture. If it is Fluorescent, the ballast could be bad or bad bulbs, if they are incandescent they may be bad. Most light in a RV are 12 volt, check for other 12 volt items not working. You could have a fuse blown in the 12 volt panel.
