No power between Transfer switch & Main breaker on Generator

I am new to RV experience and this is my first post. Hopefully it will go well.

I have a Onan 4000 generator that runs fine and I tested the main breaker and it is good. Power on the line side and on the load side with breaker on. I am not getting any power to the power transfer switch inside the coach. No power detected at the in from generator contact points. Where should I be looking? Is there another device between the main breaker and the power transfer switch? Thanks in advance for any help provided.

  • Got it!! it was a short in the wiring in the junction box. Fixed it and now all is good!! Thanks to everyone.
  • Not sure you are describing you condition properly. No power to main panel from transfer switch is a result of 1 of 2 situations, 1 Tripped breaker on genset, or 2 a bad transfer switch. The first is easy to check the second is a little more dicey. Do you have 110 power with shore power connected?
  • Do you have a transfer switch or do you have to plug the shore power cord into an outlet in the power storage bay?

This is what I am deducing......

Gen runs but nothing from transfer switch to MAIN panel

So Gen breaker(s) tripped........or transfer switch stuck on shore power side

  • By "main breaker", are you talking about the breaker on the genset? Normally, there is nothing between the genset and transfer switch, but there is a junction box usually, with wire nutted connections.
