Did any others get a post card for this suite and fill it out. Mine was on the list and I had to go on line to send in the form. Is this for real or not.

The settlement calls for a $36 million fund to be distributed in installments to eligible claimants, less administrative expenses and attorneys fees. Therefore, if you own such a refrigerator and have not had the HTS installed, you should turn off your refrigerator immediately and call the Norcold Recall Department at (800) 767.9101 to make arrangements to have the HTS installed at no charge to you. If the HTS has been installed and it trips (red light continuously lit), the Refrigerator must always be brought in and checked by a trained technician. It is imperative that you never bypass the HTS. Norcold had previously recalled 6 cubic foot and 8 cubic foot refrigerators with serial numbers1038000 to 1099000. If you own one of these refrigerators and you have not had the original cooling unit replaced you should immediately turn off your refrigerator and contact the Norcold Recall Department at 800.767.9101 to make arrangements to have your original cooling unit replacedat no cost to you. It is essential that if you are experiencing cooling performance issues with your Refrigerator you immediately take it to a dealer and have it checked by a trained Technician.FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAN RESULT IN FIRE, CAUSING PROPERTY DAMAGE, INJURY OR DEATH.I haven't signed up yet (I'm still working my way through the pleadings), but I'm pretty sure I will.Skip

The suit is legit but the amount you receive is still not determined. It all depends on how many people make claims. The more people that make claims, the less each will receive. Here is an answer to the question of how much you will receive. A lot depends on if you had repair costs that you are claiming or if you just have the specific type of refrigerator without any problems. Norcold settlement

AND, to add confusion, Norcold has issued recalls for their older models (as detailed above) that they fix and extend coverage on. But the suit is for newer models that have not been recalled. There have been an evolving series of these class actions to have Norcold pay up, and it gets complicated tracking the variations as to what is the most current. Add to it, several of the models have not been recalled, begging the question as to how safe/unsafe they may really be. All we know for sure is that it benefits the lawyers to round up as many people as possible.

I never even got a card. Mine is an 06. I had a recall done on it in the first 6 months. didn't help any, in fact I think it made it worse.

True enough, altho a by-product is a penalty to the company that manufactures faulty equipment too. Which has value - and so it quits selling faulty products. Class Action suits rarely punish companies to quit making faulty products. They file Bankruptcy first, What usually happens is, good Manufacturers get hit and then they go out of business and that means lost jobs for thousands of people, not just the people that work at the company, but all the people that supply and have companies that supply that company. The Lawyers always smile on the way to the bank. They NEVER file a lawsuit to "Help" the little guy. They file to line their pockets. Doug

True enough, altho a by-product is a penalty to the company that manufactures faulty equipment too. Which has value - and so it quits selling faulty products. It's not always about what an individual gets ... altho, that is important too - and I'm not sticking up for the attorneys that practice it here, just that others issues come into play in a lawsuit like this

Just go to the website, enter the serial number of your unit, and see if it's covered. If so, follow the links. Here's the website: Norcold Class Action.

And for anyone who doesn't like the way class action lawsuits work (a completely understandable reaction), you can opt out and file a separate, individual lawsuit. Instructions to opt out of the class are on the website. Individual suits usually aren't practical, which is why class actions exist, but that doesn't make the class action structure any more palatable.

No the lawyers ALWAYS get first money. Then the lead plaintiff's, then the class.

That's way more than I ever got in one of these things. Usually get something like a coupon for $10 off your next purchase of a Lear Jet.

I "won" couple of such claims in the past.
Usually scheme is like that:
$36,000,000 won in the court
-32,000,000 attorney fees
= 4,000,0000 divided by 100,000 owners
= $40 for each winning plaintiff..... if you are lucky.

yes, I did get the checks.
