Norcold Refrigerators...keeping doors closed

I did this test about a month ago and the dollar bill pulled out with little resistance. I removed the black plastic door latch and ground off about 3/16 in where it attaches to refrigerator. Retested and bill had resistance. Refer is a Norcold 682IM model 16 years old.
