OASIS ELECTRIC USAGE

I like using the electric setting on my oasis to heat the coach on furnace ! was wondering if this is more economical that using the diesel burner and the furnace setting ? cross posted
Thanks Dave

don't know about economical or not but whenever we have the chance I prefer not to use my consumables. we're currently in AZ and just got our electric bill for the 1st month...roughly $90 or $3/per day. might be high to some but we've been using electric heat at night and, lately, the AC during the day. our LP tank is still full.
  • Heating the water with electricity is cheaper than using diesel and there are no fumes blowing into your neighbors patio area. Two pluses.
  • I use the diesel setting on my oasis if it’s 40 degrees or colder, otherwise I use the electric.
  • As far as electrical usage where does using the heat pumps come into play, I would assume that would be the most expensive ???

Heat pumps are the most efficient way to heat...3-4 times better than resistive electric. I use mine down to freezing where they are still 2X elect or 3X diesel. Put your hand close to the exhaust of your Oasis or AquaHot...that's wasted energy.
  • Why use fuel if you don't have to? I know electricity is a form of fuel, but at least it's a plug in and not something you need to go refill.
  • Hi,

Not necessarily. Here is a web page that helps one choose. The place I winter camp doesn't meter the power, so it is definitely the cheapest way to heat:
