I have an Oasis Elite Automatic RV door awning. It will sometimes open part of the way and stop and or go out and won't retract. After working with it some manually, it will eventually return to the closed position. It seems that the motor just stops running. I have checked the switch and it seems to be performing correctly. Is this the motor going bad? And if so has anyone performed this operation?
I may have the same exact door awning, I'll have to check. But, I do have almost the same exact symptoms. Ours will extend just fine. But, if I extend it, all the way out, 'till the elbows lock open, the motor does not have enough power to kink the elbows and retract the awning. At that point, the system just shuts down. It must have some sort of timer in the circuitry that allows a cool down for a short period because after letting it sit for say, around 3-5 minutes, I can try it again and it will again, shut down if I don't assist it by manually kink both elbows while the wife pushes the toggle to retract.
I've had to do it like that several times since we acquired the coach, about 5 years ago. And, like Ivylog has suggested, I have had to break out my little ladder and, remove the motor cover and supply that little motor with auxiliary 12V to make it retract the awning so we can get on the road and travel.
One of these days, I'm going to wire a secondary set of wires to that little motor and tie them to a separate toggle and the house batteries so that when it gives me its little fit, I can simply push on the other toggle and supply a full 12V to it.

P.S. Our model does NOT HAVE A MANUAL retraction system whereby you can grab a handle and stick in a keyway and crank it closed.
