An oil analysis is great but it is not a prediction of what will happen in the next 3 months or next year. If you plan on getting an oil analysis and it says the oil is fine, don't use that as a gauge to change what you should use as your next oil change interval.
A lot can happen the next time as the temperature and weather can change as well as a bearing starting to fail.
The purpose of an oil analysis is to determine the health of the engine at that specific point in time. It cannot predict the future which is why they need to be done on a REGULAR basis to determine when you need to actually change your oil completely. With your minimal usage, I would suggest having the oil analysis done annually.
Thank you for your input!
I understand what you're saying about not being able to predict the future. However, in my case, I think it could come pretty close because my camping lifestyle is extremely stable. We go to the same place to camp and it stays in the climate controlled garage when not in use. The engine has less than 8k miles on it and at my current rate of mileage, I won't see 10k miles for another 3 years. So I think I'll keep my 2 year interval and get an analysis done each time.
