Oil changes

We have Freightliner change every year when chassis is serviced.

Every year regardless. It's still under warranty and those are the manufactures maintenance requirements.

Agreed it also helps cool the engine. I change mine every 5000 no matter what or where. Even if where I am is Homer Alaska where oil is fricken very expensive.

I have always found that the manufacturer's requirements to be best and they are found in your owner's manual. I follow them rather than just anyone with a keyboard and internet connection.

All gets done annually, oil and fuel..

thanks for your answers, I have always changed mine once a year, usually in December or January and the miles vary but never over 10 or 12,000 miles. Loading up to head out on a new set of Michelins it sure rides smooth and handles nice.

Once a year. Not needed as I've had Blackstone test it twice in the last 5 years & results showed great oil that had easy another year or 10k miles. I only average 6k miles year

Once a year. Usually Sept. timeframe when in to the dealer for yearly chassis pm.

Regardless of mileage, I change mine annually. I can't/don't drive enough in a year to worry about a mileage interval, but, I do get concerned with the longevity of the oil additives. Diesel oil is notorious for picking up combustion contaminants and, if for only that reason, annual works for me and always has, even on my 1983 JD tractor... I could do an oil analysis, but, an annual change covers my bases and allows for a "once over" of the mechanicals to, hopefully, spot potential trouble areas before they become actual trouble areas.

There are other threads on this forum that will cover the gamut of "I never change the oil until an analysis says it is time" to "I always change it at 3,000 miles regardless of what else manuals, mechanics, or laypeople say". Annual is not expensive for the peace of mind we get when we fire up for a move down the road (we are on the road 6 or 7 months out of the year).
