I had a travel trailer for 8 years that had the epdm rubber roof. It never gave me any trouble, but it did seem vulnerable anytime I was up on the roof to do things like install vent covers or whatever. Always felt like I needed to walk carefully and not accidentally drop a screwdriver or other tool. It also seemed very prone to get that dark maroon colored mold or whatever it was, needed cleaning a lot if you cared about keeping it clean. I have a Winnebago now with a fiberglass roof and like it much better. I can walk around on it and it feels solid and secure, I don't worry as much about accidentally dropping something, I don't worry about hail or low hanging branches damaging it, and it seems like it stays cleaner. But, having had both, I would see having a fiberglass roof as a bonus, but not a necessity. I wouldn't let the roof material determine if I bought the rv or not, other things are more important (floor plan, quality, price, etc.).
