OK, let's talk TV antennas
Gents,
We have an '04 Itasca Horizon, 36GD with the C-7 330 CAT. It came with the standard, "Bat Wing" antenna. And, we have the original Sony, ultra-heavy, TV up front. Yeah, yeah, I know, it's a dinosaur and it weighs about as much as an early model VW and, yes, it's on the slate to be replaced. But, for now, the beautifully working Sony will have to do.
And, since that TV is the older style, we also have one of those "digital converter boxes" up in the multi-switch area too. Now, we've had the coach for about 28 months and, for the life of me, I don't ever remember that TV EVER receiving any signal with or without, the digital converter in use or not. And, yes, we have an antenna "amplifier" too. And, it's always in the "on" position when we try and get signals using the bat wing. And, it didn't matter where we've tried to bring in signals. We've been right next to friends that were receiving signals but, ours, NADA, NOTHING, ZIPPO!!!
Now, the TV works fine as stated. We also have a King Dome that is partially inop because it never stops searching. But, I trick it by using the TV as a signal meter so, when the KD is searching, and the graph starts climbing on the TV screen, I stop the search.
Anyway, I'd like to get that bat wind replaced with whatever is the latest-greatest of TV antennas. I've heard of the "Jack" antenna. Now, is that the on that has an irregular shape? And there's one that's completely round too. Not sure of what the name of that one is. Anyway, to those of you that had a real hard time bringing in any channels with the bat wing but, replaced it with one of the newer, more modern styles of antenna, what did you use, how well is it still working and, if I may ask, the cost etc? I sure appreciate your help here.
