Dennis, ... my wife had this surgery a little over a year ago and it's like she's new (ok, just the knee). That said, like you, she went through all the pain issues but with consistent PT she emerged light years ahead of her former self. The results are amazing.
Now it's my turn and I can't believe I'm eager for the pain (just want it behind me) and as soon as Medicare decides pills and injections don't work I guess they'll authorize mine.
