Onan 4000 gen

I have a Onan micro quiet 4000 4KYFA26100E I had to buy a new control board for it and if am trying to figure out hoy the wiring go's the connector on the board is a 6 pin connector but only has 5 wires 1-2-3-5-6 but there are only 4 wires coming from the remote start does anyone know what color go's to what number the connector from the board is marked with 1-2-3-5-6. Any help would be appreciated.

That's how ours works. Yours may be different or it's a symptom of the problem, fuel pump not working.

As waterboy said you need 1/4 tank or more of fuel to feed the gen. Also on our Onan 4k holding the switch in the off position runs the pump to fill the fuel bowl before trying to start the engine. You have to hold it in the off position for a few seconds then you should hear the fuel pump start running.

Some of them have a wire wound resister that goes bad and won't allow voltage to the fuel pump. You can put a meter on it to see if it is open. You should get a schematic for your model

Also make sure there is enough fuel in you tank. At least 1/4 full.

I don't know what year yours is but mine is 1998. There is a solenoid located in the carburator bowl that shuts off the fuel when power is off. A wire popped of of mine once and shut off the gen. Or see if it was power (12 v)to it.

Any gas on the bowl? There is a drain valve on it.
