Onan quiet diesel

When you hold the start button what is clicking sound? the sound on my 7.5 kw used to be quite loud but lately you can hardley hear it and it seams to take longer befor starting, whats up with that?

Thanks, Jim
  • We are in Yuma Az for the winter so I think its time for a filter change, can there be a air problem when changing it out?

    Thanks Jim
  • If you are starting the generator a couple of times a day, then the fuel pressure is staying built up. By not running the genny but once in awhile, the fuel pressure will bleed off and then the pump will run longer.

I an running mine twice a day and on the second time, there is maybe one click and the genny starts
  • So this is a electric pump getting up to pressure before the gen to start? that would figure in my case, the fuel filer has not been changed out in years.

    Thanks , Jim

And/or voltage at the pump is lower.
