Opinions on wood throughout.

I've pulled the carpet out of our Monaco lapalma and have decided on a vinyl plank product similar to the Allure sold at Home depot. We are going with a wood look and my wife thinks it will look ok to install this through out the RV but I think when we get to the bathroom area we should install a tile version of the product. Do you think visually hardwood would look ok in a bathroom?
  • I have been doing wood throughout for quite a while. Makes the whole coach look large.
  • There was a version of the Allure flooring that specifically said it was not for use in bath areas as the high moisture from showering, etc. would cause issues. Be sure to check this out. Otherwise, I think it would look great.
  • Thanks for the input. I won't stress over it. I agree that keeping it all the same would open it up.
  • Tile is just a more sanitary look for a bathroom. Might be more pleasant and sanitary looking for a potential buyer too.

I've had carpet and wood in motorhomes. Much prefer the wood!!! And I go with the tile look in the bathroom too.
  • You may miss the quieting effect of carpet. Our condo has the laminate wood in the bathroom and it works good, It does get a little slippery when wet so we have a non-slip rug at the tub exit.
  • Personally, I see no problem with running the wood product all the way through the coach. I, too, think it would give the illusion of making it look larger.

    MM.
  • I would put the same vinyl plank flooring throughout the RV. It will give the illusion of more space if you use it lengthwise. If you use different in the bathroom or place the planks in a design, everywhere will look smaller to you.
  • That product is not to be installed in a recreational vehicle or anywhere it will be exposed to temperatures below 55 degrees F. Check the manufacturer' installation directions available from Home Depot's website!
  • I actually really like the look of the wood in our bathroom. Feels more upscale and fancy to me. I had similar worries before installing mine, but wouldn't have used an entire box of flooring just for the bathroom. Felt like a waste.
  • Personally, wouldn't see it as an issue. Might be interesting to run different direction or diagonal depending on floorplan. Might just lay them out unsecured to get visual.
