Assuming of course you mean propane, not butane- here's a pic of some gas flames. As you can see, "all blue" is typical of natural gas, but not propane.
Pics are from this page, which also has explanations of what color differences mean. In your case, it sounds like insufficient air, which certainly could be caused by spiderweb blockage. This especially if the bad color is "new".
