stove burner

One burner will lite with match but not with spark -other two work fine what do i need to do to fix -thanks ??
  • Thanks to all -lifting the wire off of the metal solved the problem
  • Also on some burners there are small holes and such that may need to be cleaned out.

First make sure ignitor is connected to spark generator. (Wire loose?) and then .. well far as I know you can not adjust them. Had the same problem Tried, Use gas-match or hand held sparker now days.
  • If it will light with a match, it isn't a gas supply issue.
Probably the wire pulled off the electrode or it is shorting through damage to the insulation as suggested above.
Heatshrink will do a clean job of fixing damaged insulation.
  • When that happens, you usually have an igniter wire off or the wire has a slight crack in it and it's shorting to the stove pan. Access the burner area and check the wire and then put something non-conducting between the wire and the stove pan. if it lights then, remove the wire and take it to an electrical supplier for replacement. You'll have to get end terminals and crimp them on. An emergency repair can be made with a few dabs of Liquid Tape (easily found in automotive area of Wal Mart) once you find the cracked insulation area.
  • jackbuck, check that the wire (igniter) has not come loose or moved away from the burner.
  • Most RV stoves have a gas tube from a central igniter that feeds gas from the burner to the igniter. Lift the lid and look. I would guess the tube has burned or come disonnected.
