We will be traveling in Oregon and northern CA to see the redwoods for the first time for us in October. We plan to use 199 from Grants Pass to get to 101. Looking at Google earth, there appear to be some places where you can pull off right next to the ocean on 101. Can you park overnight in the RV in any of those places?
There are lots of pull outs to let traffic go by on 199. Please use them.
There are NO places to park overnight for free. There are many state, county and private campgrounds / RV parks. Even Walmart camping is not allowed.
Reservations would be a good idea now and through Sept. October; not so much. Winchester Bay, Sea Perch and Pacific Shores are a few of the nicer high end RV Parks.
Thanks for the info. I see many private RV parks on RV Parky app all along the route.
We have a service appointment in Eugene for early October so we won't be traveling down the coast until after that. We may head over to Gold Beach and take 101 all the way down into northern CA redwoods. Will most of the private RV parks still be open in mid October?
