Over the door Awning

At the end of a recent trip we had the electric door awning fail. Specifically it started to make a clicking noise and stopped moving. We disconnected the arms and cover and slid it offf the cloth. Used a zip tie to hold the cloth in place and used Plastic wrap and duct tape to protect it from the wind on the ride home.

Problem I am having is removing the end caps. It is a Carefree awning and the instructions say to remove the screws from the caps but there are no screws in this cap. Anyone have this issue?

  • Have you tried removing the awning from the wall? They're usually mounted on some type mounting strip and you may get access from the rear.
  • Trying to avoid removal of the whole unit... It is riveted in place and the interior rivet is under the wall. Besides the picture in the instructions shows screws in the cap like the caps on the toppers.
  • Just received the answer from Carefree. Yes they used clip on end caps.
