Overhead entertainment center removal

Looks good so far. This way you'll have more sleeping capacity.

While working on this project:

I always like to say a job is not complete unless a little blood has been drawn. The new motorhome is no exception to the rule.

Tablesaw 1, Finger, 0.

Like my Dad before me, the tablesaw, of which I hold the utmost in respect, has claimed part of me. I've become so consumed with my work that it has consumed part of me.

I vow to never let it get more of me. It was a silly little mistake, one that should have never happened.

But it did.

Fortunately, the loss is minor, the edge of the left middle finger, a divot to the bone next to the fingernail. With the help of my lovely wife & lovely daughter we cleaned it, disinfected and bandaged, then after 10 minutes of rest, I went back to the tablesaw and finished the cut plus a few more.

Ah, the memories we make...

Yea, I got off lucky. Dang lucky. That particular tablesaw has given me nearly 30 years service, but I expected to get at least 50. I'd be 79 then...

The project is progressing: here's some updates:

All trim has been fixed in areas other than where the new cabinet goes:



Wiring rework - note there's now a light overhead... Don't ask how much trouble it was to find & fish that wire:



The corner where the new cabinet goes that will provide storage and will be the mount for the TV. Note how close it is to the DVD/radio/amp:



The other corner is finished - I turned the overhead lamp off so it is now visible rather than being a white blob:



More as I progress!

what type entertainment center did you remove? the windows seem an odd thing for FR to include w/ overhead an entertainment center

Any picks of the finger?

Sorry - missed the fact there were replies to this thread.

Pics? Do you really wanna see? Ok, here's a Day After pic. It never really bled much, only slightly for a hour or two after, then it was fine.

Currently, the meat has filled in and the skin has almost grown completely over it. Just a little sliver is left. I've been keeping it covered with a cloth bandage and a touch of triple-antibiotic to keep it moist. I won't have much of a scar, surprisingly.

Glad you removed the TV ok and your finger is ok.

Here is a link to an old post showing how I mounted my TV. Yours is a bigger TV so it may not work as well but I thought I would suggest it anyway.

That's a pretty cool setup! Our old Four Winds had that same TV cabinet. It contained a 12" tv and a vhs player; we pulled all of it & donated the setup within a few weeks of acquiring the unit. We are not glued to the TV; RVing is a way to get away from it all for a while.
We have played DVDs in the laptop in times past; we figured we'd use this new setup for movies as well.

Update on the finger: It's all healed and shows no evidence of ever being chopped liver. There's a slight flat spot where I should have kept it covered & moist. Only the memories and the picture of the event remains.

Oh, and the overhead has evolved too, though I still need to architect a TV cabinet. I installed the TV temporarily for a trip last summer with the grand-children as we needed child sedation devices.

We purchased a 2016 Chateau and had them remove the entertainment center. Very happy with the results. I'd rather have the bunk plus we use it for extra blankets, etc.
