We have made the trip twice... In a 32 foot class A not towing a dinghy, and in our current 40 foot towing a dinghy. The views at time are spectacular... There are several switchbacks on highway 1 where you will need the entire road to make the turns...But as far as I can remember you have good visibility at on coming traffic... You will need to use the pull offs to allow for faster traffic to pass. The worst part of the drive is dealing with the logging trucks who tend to push the limits of speed.
There is a good campground just outside of Bodega Bay(north).. The restaurant where the Movie "Birds" was partially filmed is still there and a really good place for seafood.
Its hard to say how passengers will enjoy the trip since at times headed south one will have an unencumbered of the overlooks... The trip in the 32 footer was much easier, but the 40 footer was not a problem, I am thinking will are due for another run down the coast...
