Packing to travel

As with the others, I don't take things out of cabinets or the fridge. I do put stuff back in the cabinets and fridge from counters, tabletops, etc. Driving conservatively and avoiding sudden moves helps a lot in keeping things where they belong.

In extreme cases (such as when going over bad transitions from a driveway to a road) where the RV sways a lot from side to side, it's possible for things to come out of my cabinets and end up on the floor. I try to avoid having breakable or messy things in upper cabinets; I use decent quality plastic plates and bowls and glasses, for example.

Watermelon is a bit tricky to carry well; the storage compartment underneath the dinette seat seems to work as well as anywhere (it keeps it from rolling around too much and getting enough momentum up to burst out of the cabinet door).

No. Everything we put in the cabinets and fridge, we put into plastic bins. The fridge bins are clear so you can see what is in them, and the cabinet bins are colored with labels on the front naming contents.

With the bins, nothing shifts around or falls out when we open the doors.

we have a motorhome and don't. we do clear all flat surfaces of stuff but everything that's in cabinets or drawers stays put as well as everything in our residential fridge. our previous two motorhomes had RV fridges and we did not empty them while moving from here to there either.

Everything stays in place when changing locations.
And, when we get home the only things we Remove are perishable items.
Many like to have the rig ready to go at all times.

Put anything that could become an airborne projectile in a sudden stop into a drawer or cabinet before moving the rig on its wheels.

You decide what to remove from the rig when your get home.

that's us. separate sets of dishes, pots, pans, bedding, towels, toiletries, clothing, etc, etc. we load up the pantry with non-perishables at the end of the season and replenish as needed adding only perishable items prior to a trip. at the end of the season all food is removed.

After a few moves, you'll figure it out. If it ends up on the floor, put it up. We've found that the bed is a good place for stuff in transit.

As others have said, take things off the counter and leave everything else in the cabinets. We put the"waffle" type shelf liner on the shelves and some between each plate to keep the rattling down. As long as you use some common sense in putting things in the cabinets with an eye toward rattles should be fine. Our motor home is set up as another house with dry goods, plates, utensils etc staying in all the time. Like wise all bathroom "stuff" stays. In the fall, we take any thing that will freeze out. Many of us use the non-skid waffle weave type shelf liner on our shelves which keeps things from sliding around. We are in a motorhome and my plates,bowls, casserole dishes are never wrapped and they never move around or bang making noise. There is also putty type stuff that you can buy and put under the bottom of things ( like our toothbrush holder) which keeps them in place. I also used that behind things that I hung on the walls so they don't come down. We have a dinette booth and found that the seat cushions slowly slid forward when we sat - put some of that shelf liner between the board and cushion and no more sliding. Clear tubs also hold some of our stuff that is in a big closet, under the sink or other larger areas. The rest has things packed tight so they cannot move anyway.

We don't do anything special for traveling. Coach has it's own set of pans etc that stay with the coach. Even the Keurig stays on the counter and has never moved in transit. The only exception is wine glasses. After trying a number of solutions and going through a series of glasses my wife bought a package of men's white tube socks. Each glass goes into a sock and we haven't had a problem since.
