Packing to travel

New to the RV world and just getting started. When you are moving from place to place, do you take everything out of the cupboards and drawers and refrigerator?

  • We keep it simple and pack for our own comfort and ease. We pack paper plates and plastic glasses.
We do use regular stainless steel utensils and we have our own set of pots and pans for the coach. This minimizes a lot of the rattling and noise from dishes and also cuts down on the weight we are hauling. It also eliminates a lot of the hassle with washing dishes and we can always replenish our dishes at any Walmart. Since we travel a lot in the Winter and do not hook up to shore water, this also prolongs the range we get out of our fresh water tank.
They also make spring loaded bars that we use in the refrigerator and cupboards to keep things in place. These are available online or at Camping World.
We travel to relax and to enjoy the surrounding scenery.
  • One of the advantages to traveling in an RV is not having to unpack and repack each time you leave one destination for the next. Most things in the RV will ride just fine if you place some towels around fragile items. Things that can fall over in cabinets or medicine cabinets need to be laid down or packed tightly with other objects so they can't move.
Dishes should be separated with foam sheets pots and pans should have towels around them to keep them from rattling.

I'm sure others will chime in with other tips. Relax and enjoy the RV lifestyle.
