Palm Springs, CA RV Park Advise

Hello: I am posting this question for my brother. I am seeking advise on RV Parks in Palm Springs, CA. What nice, well maintained RV parks are available as close to down town Palm Springs, CA that is big rig friendly. The RV is a Class A motorhome, DIscovery 39U, double slide, with car. Has no pets and golf is not important. Or does anyone know of private RV spots available? Possible 1 year stay. Will be heading there the first part of March 2015. Thank you in advance. Moderator: Sorry if this is in the wrong category.
  • I would suggest shopping around in person since this doesn't sound like a normal snowbird visit. What works great for the snowbird crowd isn't going to work for someone who is there in the summer. Summer temps are going to exceed 110 degrees on a daily basis. The resorts mentioned are really not geared for summer stays. There are a few older parks where people appear to live year round, but their names escape me. Those would probably be much cheaper (winter rates in the nicer resorts can easily exceed $1500 to $2000 per month.) and may have a bit more shade trees. (again the resorts are pretty much Palm Trees and fruit trees only, which are beautiful, but offer little in the way of sun shade. I would just pick any of the previously mentioned resorts, sans Desert Hot Springs which is too far from Palm Springs Central for any commuting, stay for a month during which you can find a decent year round spot.
  • if you want a luxury site try Motorcoach Country Club in Indio, Ca. about 20 mins east of
    Palm Springs
  • Carl, there is a park slightly south of downtown Palm Springs called the 'Happy Traveler'. Their website states a max length of 40 ft. so your brother would be OK. Otherwise, there are no other RV parks in Palm Springs that I can think of. The Happy Traveler spaces are tight but you can't beat the location to be right at downtown PS.

Desert Hot Springs is north of the I-10 and it can get very windy there as they are right at the pass that takes you to Los Angeles (130 miles away).

The next city is Cathedral City, CA, right next to Palm Springs where there is a nice Outdoor Resorts on Ramon at Date Palm Drive that is very nice. The Palm Springs Oasis is down the street at Gerald Ford and Date Palm Drive but is rather plain but convenient to Palm Springs (probably 6-7 miles to downtown).

    Good luck,
    Mark
  • There are many RV parks/resorts in the Palm Springs area. Some are very high end and others aren't. I would suggest you use RV Park Reviews to look at what is available and what suits there needs.
