Be sure to turn the fan off for a few seconds while you flush, then turn it back on. The fan basically creates a vacuum inside the bathroom, and normally the air flows from the living space into the bathroom and out the fan. When you flush, you're opening a direct link from the black tank to the bathroom...and if the fan has created a vacuum in there, it will suck the smell from the tank into the bathroom.
So just turn off the fan, flush, and turn it back on. You'll be much less likely to smell anything.
