Phoenix Cruiser quality
After reading all the positive comments about PCs quality, amendments and factory support, I decided I was going to look into purchasing one. I've talked extensively to Earl at the company head quarters and received color samples etc. and was very impressed with the info I'd gathered and received. All that was left to do was to see and feel a PC. Unfortunately there are no dealers anywhere in the US except for the manufacturers in Elkhart, Indiana which, for me, would be a 2,200 mile jaunt. So the next thing to do would be to look at a used one for sale at a rv dealer in Rocklin, CA. It was a 2006 Phoenix model 2551 with 33,550 miles. I wasn't actually interested buying this used one but rather was just checking the build quality in terms of workmanship and quality of materials.
As I was doing my inspection of this vehicle I was blown away with the poor quality of the materials and the really poor workmanship. In a nutshell this thing was thrown together with cheap unmatching wood, flimsy vinyl accordion door that jammed and the trim for some of the doors(granted it was on the inside) looked like they were picked out of a scrap heap and stapled on with non matching joints. The galley sink was some kind of a cheap white plastic material. What I saw was factory looking material and I don't think anyone has tinkered with anything.
What should I do? Has workmanship and quality materials improved in the ensuing years. What am I missing? If I find that this particular unit is an anomaly and I'm wrong, I'll continue to pursue the purchase of a new PC>
