Kidoo: Canadians cannot get the Penfed card. Even though the Loyalty discount is not that much you also get the cash price when using a credit card. Penfed's program will probably not last for much longer. There is no free lunch and that 20 cent saving has to come from somewhere. Many merchants are complaining to CC companies that they do not like accepting "bonus CC's as the merchant has to pay a larger fee.
I agree, but after watching people talk about the program for two years and now having had a PenFed card for another two years, I'll just keep getting my 20 cents a gallon while it lasts. The $375.00 I saved last year and the $300.00 the year before was probably a fluke. Who knows, they could just shut the program down in another 5 years and it just wouldn't have been worth it :S
The Canadian issue is a different story and I understand that. PenFed is for U.S. Military members and families.
We completed a 6000 mile trip last Sep/Oct and I specifically noted the price of the large truck stops. There were some that were 15 cents more a gallon, most were about 7-8 cents more a gallon and only ONE was the same price as other stations nearby and we found ONE that was cheaper than others (Pilot at Havasu cut off in AZ).
