- jimroachExplorerI am sure that at least part of that $4 Billion is is from the merger. I know I always look for that flying J sign or on the APP for one. Love that RV lane. Pilot itself, I can take or leave.
- kokois1ExplorerIf they go down the tubes in financial ruin no sweat off off my brow! Since they are still open for business and give me a 4 cent/gal discount on gas I will stop there. We have a nice clean bathroom and plenty of food to eat in our coach so no need to go in. Happy travels!
- HHg_in_AustinExplorerFor most of my RV'ing life I avoided the T/A's, Pilot/Flying J's because of their cost. Forget the restrooms, food, services, etc.....it was all about price. With my previous RVs, I could get in most fuel stations. With my Phaeton, there are VERY few regular stations I can get in....so I have to use the TAs and Pilot's. Life DOES go on.
Hhg - UsualSuspectExplorerThey, like many other large businesses are in debt billions of dollars. The article states they may have a cash flow problem, but they don't show, or provide any facts backing that claim. The only time I visit them is when they are more convenient than others and I don't feel like driving off the beaten path. I use my restroom on wheels.

We have owned MHs for over twenty years and I never have understood the attraction of stopping at Fly J. bb
Usually it is a case of access and convenience for us. OTOH some are terrible access for the RV islands and getting out of them. Truck lanes are almost always better for the bigger units anyhow. We learn by using and then avoid those that don't meet our requirements.
Since a lot of our travels seem to entail using the same routes, too often it is easier for us to use places where we have good experiences rather than seeking acceptable places in a hit and miss fashion.
I will say that if this company's debt load causes their pricing to become non-competetive then we would seek other places to purchase fuel and associated services. Going from free to fee for dumping has already caused this reaction in some cases. We can usually dump other places, this option was just convenient at times. - okgcExplorer

We sure got off the topic, all the way from the Flying J/Pilot CEO being $4 billion in debt all the way to his rest rooms being clean or dirty, which ever.
My fault. My apologies. It was just the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the company name. I am not a business man, nor a financial person, so it has no bearing on me as to their financial position, other than it will probably cost me more for diesel. I should have probably just passed over the topic since I had nothing meaningful to contribute. Will try and be better and more aware next time. - wny_pat1ExplorerWe sure got off the topic, all the way from the Flying J/Pilot CEO being $4 billion in debt all the way to his rest rooms being clean or dirty, which ever.

Must be different in your part of the country. From the Pacific Northwest to Texas we've always found the Flying J to be clean, friendly and reliable.
We have traveled 18 states so far. Last year spent lots of time in TX, OK, OR, WA, ID, UT, AZ, NV, etc. Have yet to find one that was clean. I am a bit of a clean freak I guess! I actually now wear shoe covers and gloves if I have to go inside!
Rule # 1: ALWAYS use your OWN bathroom...:B
Rule # 2: Always have your significant other go inside to pay...:B:B
