Placement low point drains on 2005 Mtn Aire gas

This is a new rig to me since this summer, want to winterize and have two questions, 1) where in the heck is the low point drain to pull to empty the pipes of water and 2) how do you winterize a washing machine, just draw the antifreeze into the washer ? Right now have a hell of a time trying to get the anode rode out, it is stuck, cannot unscrew the bolt with socket, won't budge. tried penetrating oil a number of times sprayed in but, NO GO. So guess I need help getting the **** thing out so I can drain the water heater of water. I DO know where the by pass is so that is a plus!
  • hook up a air compressor and open the pop off valve on the hot water tank. let run till no drops of water and shut off valve, move to the next outlet, sink, shower, kitchen washing machine and do each one and turn off the valves. Washing machine, turn on electrical and let air flow thru . Put one or two cups of antifreeze in each drain and toilet. If you pump has a clear tube attach like most Newmar, then stick that into the rest of the pink stuff and let the pump suck it thru it, Your are finish. Forgot, remove your inline water filter if you have one. 40 lbs pressure should be enough. Cost is time and one gallon of pink stuff. My low points are below each tank and the the refrigerator also has one.
  • Mine is a diesel but the low point is in the wash bay. There is a white "tray" on the bottom of the bay and along the back edge there is a small cut out. Just inside there on the floor is the low point valve. Not sure if it's the same for yours.
I usually use Teflon tape when I put my anode rod back in to help remove it, but if it's been in there a while it may have corroded together with the outer screw shell. May have to drill out the old one.
  • I believe this post covers it. Did you see this in your research?

“Look at the water bay. Note the two knobs labeled as "Low point drains". Now note below them, as far back as you can reach, a hole in the back wall also labeled as "Low point drain". Stick your hand in that hole and feel around and you'll find a valve you can't see. This is the fresh tank drain.”
