Please check your tires

Another RVr lost her life due to a tire failure. While the article doesn't say whether speed was also a factor, the husband was traveling in the outside lane, blew a tire, hit a tree then continued down the shoulder and hit another tree. Must have been horrific. No pictures that I've found. Be extra cautious, check your tires, their codes, checking etc. It's unknown if a TPMS would have helped, but having one extra measure to promote safety can't hurt, especially how inexpensive these devices are....Prayers to the victims family...sad news...Dennis

RV Fatality on I-95
  • Very sad, I agree not too sure how much a TPMS would have helped with this. I had blow out a few years ago on TT we had, was an eye opening experience. Prayers for the family involved.
  • Dang....hate to read this, but it is a good reminder to make sure everything is in good operating order before taking flight. Having had 2 blowouts on the rear (one because of an old tire and one was a faulty NEW tire), I'm extra cautious about tires now and make sure pressures and dates and overall conditions are good before every launch. I also installed a TPMS, but not sure what it would have told me prior to either of my blowouts.

Here is another one that happened last week with a better outcome. Not that it would have made a difference but they had a Safe T Plus sitting at home they were going to install when they returned.

Your link same as first link :h

  • That is a shame. I cringe sometimes when another MH passes me doing well over seventy. But a blow out at 60 would also be bad. Just hope that brake pedal won't temp me if it ever does happen.
