My process: When we go, I mean leave traveling, camping etc., we leave with tanks empty, except fresh. we use the toilet the first day, this allows the bottom to get some liquid in it, then i add the 2 or 3 ounces of proper chemical, we then use the toilet normally, adding an extra bit of water, maybe a quart to the toilet that is full of Paper and Poop for another couple two or three days, then I add another ounce or two to the tank. This helps to maintain some type of treatment as the chemical isn't sitting at the bottom of the tank in the discharge pipe and helps to insure chemical is throughout the tank. We have been as many as 10 days boondocking without any issues. this is is us, almost 20 years now without issues including odors etc. Good Luck & Be Safe ! ! !
