Post on Winnebago door

Tried to move in the post that the door hits when shutting . You have to slam it and then it dose not always shut tight. Got the post loose but there did not seem to be any movement. So I tightened it back up and tried the black tape on the post. It worked it now shuts tight. I did notice that the coating on the post was wore off and maybe this will help. My question is how long will this work. Will I have to keep putting this tape on once a month or what.

  • Strikers are usually adjustable. My Winnebago is ancient, but the striker is adjustable as well as the back plate it attaches to. I'd call customer service and ask how to adjust it.

I'm not sure but, I believe he's referring to the latch bolt that the catch on the door latches onto when closing. Those are normally adjustable, in and out to allow for tighter or, looser fits of the door to the jamb and seal. It appears he's having an issue adjusting that latch bolt so it provides the correct door/seal/jamb fit.

Most of the time, the RV door fits fairly well. But, every once in a while, you come up with issues like this. It's just the name of the game. Sometimes the build is just not right and, the owner has to put up with, wind noise, inappropriate fit, rattles, etc.

  • I believe you want to adjust the DOOR, not the post..or maybe just the lockset itself. Those are moveable, the post is not...just sayin...Dennis
