Power Roof Vent

Phil Here. I'm owning a 2004 22FT Minnie Winnie. I am looking to install a power roof vent, MaxxAir in place of my crank up non- electric vent over my bunk area. My question is where do I get the 12 volt electric to run the new fan? I have a fabric material on my ceiling and I hope no to disturb the nice application............
Thanks in advance

  • If you can't mash it through the ceiling, they sell white and beige channels made to run wires in that wouldn't look too icky.

  • One of the stainless steel stiffening ribs used on windshield wiper blades may make an adequate tool for poking thru the insulation, depending on how far you need to go. I always keep a few ribs when I replace wiper blades on my Tiger (Chevy Silverado chassis), since they're nice and long. They're good for making a variety of improvised long, skinny tools.

You can bend the end of the rib double with pliers to form an eye, then put your wire into the eye, and squeeze the eye shut to hold the wire.

  • We have a 24' Itasca. I put the power vent fan in the bath room roof vent. The power is already there for that little ex-fan.
It's a lot quieter when that fan is not next to you.
If you want the air flow through the upper bunk area just close all the windows except the one in the bunk area.
    This works fine for us.

  • You'll need to shove it through the foamed insulation. A very stiff piece of wire can be used to poke through the insulation, then tie your wiring onto that and pull it through.
  • Phil Here, Thank you wtravlr1. I thought I would install it that way, I just needed a second opinion and yours was right on the money. Just trying to save 111.00 bucks labor charge from Camping World...........................

  • First make sure its not prewired. If not grab the 12v. from the nearest light in the ceiling, you should be able to fish it though the ceiling though the insulation from the light fixture to the fan opening.
