Prefab Storage Buildings

I'm starting to think about putting up a storage shed for the MH and have looked at several websites for prefab steel buildings.

If anyone has used one of these, I would love to hear details regarding which company, ease of assy, ball park costs, and etc.

The size I'm consideing would be ~18' wide, 48' long, with a 13 X 12' door and one man door. Skylights, perhaps a couple of windows, and a couple of whirly vents for lighting and ventilation.

Thanks for any input.

  • Thanks for the comment regarding the door size, I will change it to 12W by 14 high. The building width is still being consider...24" might be a bit of an overkill. If I went 18" that would seem to be enough leaving 5' on each side..well maybe 20'. I suspect the cost per foot in width isn't a lot but there might be some cost efficient size based on material sizes, commonality or the like.
  • Just a suggestion.. The doors in width are generally in 2' increments, i.e., 10,12,14,16 etc. As far as door height goes, no less than 14' is the norm for RV storage.

They have pre fab or will do it for you. I recommend the latter.
Before you get too deep into your project, check with your city or county on building restrictions and costs. You might be surprised how expensive it can get.
