Thanks, all, for your advice. Seems like ink jet printers typically survive hot and cold. Lasers seem to also. Getting an inexpensive wireless device makes sense - if it gets destroyed in the winter or summer then not too much has been lost. OfficeMax has a nice little Epson inkjet all-in-one on sale for $50. It is looking rather appealing after reading your replies!
