Problem with HWH Leveler 500 Series

Dougrainer has helped more people get going on here than you can imagine. If I ever get to Texas and need service I would sure go to his place.

OK, I stand corrected, as pointed out by Doug.

But what I read as bucking , I did not think he was talking about an engine problem, but something bouncing in the suspension.
and while the HWH won't cause that , the lack of the travel light coming on is an indicator of a problem with the air system.

and as always comments are JMO… :)

The dive shaft can be miss aligned due to - too much or too little air pressure to the bags.

Don't get caught under your coach when it looses air pressure. It can kill you. So don't remove any air lines or adjust ride height valves either…..
unless you know what you are doing.

He complained about engine performance and my statement was to THAT complaint. Ride Height as another poster stated is not really a HWH process on the 500 series system. It IS a function on the NEW HWH all air 700 series system. Doug

when the hwh system is off, or in the travel mode. (same)
( park brake has to be released) ride height is controlled by the ride height valves. not hwh product. if the drive shaft is mis aligned, because of incorrect pressure in the air bags,its the fault of the ride height valves.

there is no substitute for a service manual. it gives you good guidelines to make a diagnosis. i quote the service manual all the time. fred grunder does a good job of writing hwh service manuals. there arent many thing he leaves out.

The touch panel doesn't show the travel light (blue). It shows two red lights for the two front air bags.

I have the Repair Manual for H.W.H. Leveling System, 500 Series.
In going through the repair steps, the manual eliminates everything I have gone through up to step #7, which states, "Replace the two travel solenoids. If this doesn't cure the problem, check height control valve".

It's a 1998 Country Coach Allure. I have had no mechanical problems since I bought it in March. It was garaged the last 10 years. Just needed some updating, flat screen tv, new color back-up camera, eterna bond on roof outlets, etc., which I have done myself and saved about $3,000. That's a lot of diesel.

I have found the manifold for the solenoids. Now have to find a place to park the motorhome so I can get under it.

Dougrainer, sounds like your response came right out of the repair manual.

FOLLOW the air bag lines. They all go to the manifold. Doug

Check the fuse for the travel solenoids. A blown fuse indicates a
shorted wire or solenoid valve. Unplug one air harness at a time to
determine which wire or manifold is shorted. Then unplug the travel
solenoid to determine a bad wire or valve.
If the fuse is not blown, check the corresponding pins in the control
box for the travel solenoids. If +12 power is not present, replace the
control box. If power is present check for power at the manifolds.
Then replace the solenoid valve for any bag that will not reinflate.

Note: A bad height control valve can cause a ride height problem.
If replacing a travel solenoid valve does not fix the problem, check
for correct operation of the height control valve.


e. With the "ON"
indicator light lit, the
TRAVEL light will
not go out.
The travel light should not be on when the system is on. Replace
the control box.
I am assuming you have NO hyd Jacks cylinders, just Air leveling since you state you have the 500 system. Doug
