- Carlos___RanaeExplorerHaving been a cast member for years, it gives me great satisfaction that so many of you enjoy our campground so much and are so knowledgeable of the history how it all came about.
To know the foliage of each loop is impressive. Yes, we do have some long term visitors and no, washing of rv's is not allowed. Your portable propane tank will be refill at the meadows trading Post. Permanent tanks will not be serviced due to safety regulations.
The Christmas decorations are worth the trip. A good number of first time visitors become frustrated mostly because they don't know how to navigate the maze of WDW. After a few visits you will be able to maximize your time.
My Magic Bands, once the kinks have been worked out, will enhance your Disney experience. Works great on diner and fast pass reservations. Sorry for being long winded. - GoldencrazyExplorerSorry you saw my explanation as a rant. Poster wondered why I didn't just google for my info and not waste space on the forum. I believe I responded in kind but did continue to explain why I believe the forum provides such great information that is unique and not available on any other site. I didn't see you ranting or the poster who questioned my post. It has all been a civil exchange and I think we have different perspectives but all were generally polite. Thanks for the info. I worry more about security than I ever have. My motorhome was entered in my driveway two years ago so my security has increased.

Goldencrazy, so sorry, I just ranted when I should've been quiet.
Our step daughter is a police officer in Deltona and says Deltona and Sanford are very high crime rate areas now so empty your car of anything valuable as thieves look for easy targets. Hide GPS and Phones. - Passin_ThruExplorerGoldencrazy, so sorry, I just ranted when I should've been quiet.

Hide GPS and Phones. - TakemeanywhereExplorerWow, Joe B. The day you described sounded so great I'm going to try it the very next chance I get! I was unaware that they even sold hotdogs of note (you can tell I haven't taken grandkids there yet) at WDW. I just assumed they were all pretty standard. Another must-do.
Propane shouldn't be an issue for us if we top off before entering, and I'll do some outdoor cooking with my small gas grill.
BTW, apparently the Sanford "city fathers" determined they didn't want anything that would disturb the community culture...and having visited recently I'd say nothing much has changed from when I was a child visiting grandparents who lived there.
Back to WDW and the Fort, part of the joy for me (and clearly there are some who believe I'm nuts!) is the energy of the campground. It's not your normal snowbird campground. Instead it's full of people who are anticipating/experiencing the fun of the "happiest place on earth" and the median age is considerably younger.
Last, if you want to see the campsites without walking around the park, check out FortFiends.net. It's a free website that provides a lot of information about the campground. On it you'll find "Ft. Wilderness Sites" - a site-by-site look in each loop. Most have a picture of the site but it also provides the length, width and an ease of backing-in scale. I loaded the app on my phone. While you're on their site, and if you really use the information, it would be nice to make a small contribution to keep them going. I joined Fort Fiends as Takemeanywhere and bought a sign for the windshield of our rig. Had someone stop by last year with welcome cookies for members. Very nice! - phnguykExplorer

And I don't understand people who reply to a post they don't understand or have an answer. Ft. Wilderness is the huge campground at Disney World. Many of the readers here have camped there and provide great information. I was expecting that if propane is not available I would get info on the best way to get it and from whom. In the past people have been so helpful in providing extended information from the question asked. The campground phone operators often don't have a clue. I have had numerous times that the information I get here is much more up to date than I get from the staff at a large campground. So I hope you understand why I asked here first. It just provides a bit more information. I learned for instance once that propane was not allowed in the campground but that a private vendor parked a truck for an hour on Tuesday in the front parking lot and you could bring the coach up for a fill. Not the best but better than driving 30 miles one way. So perhaps you get the picture. I didn't intend to irritate, just looking for info which is so incredibly plentiful on rv.net. I think this forum is the most valuable tool I have.
Y'know, all you had to do was say what town the place is near, and in what state. My first thought as well was "Where (and what) is Fort Wilderness??"
The difference is, I didn't and don't care enough to ask, because I know I will never go there, wherever it is.
Giving enough information is always a good idea.
As for the OP question, sorry, I can't help you, I don't know.
If you don't know where it is then most likely you have never been there. A reasonable conclusion is that you have nothing to offer to answer this simple question. If the first person to reply was truly interested where one of the biggest resorts in the United States was he could have waited 5 minutes and someone would have had a reply with the answer or search "Fort Wilderness" and he would have had a days worth of reading to inform him.
Maybe if he knew where even without ever have been there, if golden had or someone else just said Disneys campground pog might have had light bulb go off. Hey my nephew grandson old neighbor or whatever works there I could ask him. You never know. Golden should have ignored it or just answered instead of going on a rant. - workhardplayha1Explorer

I could have done that easily and not bothered anyone, especially the people who have no information to provide. But if you read the responses you find the true value of a forum like this as it engages real people with real experience. Read the response that explains the easiest way to get to the tank at Camping World. I have been there but not at the propane and I know it is difficult area in which to maneuver and that is very helpful. I also now know there isn't an easy place nearby to get propane so I will top off before arriving which I might not have done. I will also plan on using my propane differently for instance will use portable tank for the grill instead of hooking to on board tank. I'm sorry you would not want to meet me because of my research style. I am not an unlikable person. I am curious and enjoy interacting with people. I do think the value of this forum is the basic principle that there are no dumb questions. I learned a whole lot from my post on propane as you can see from the thread. I also exchanged PM's with several people who asked my questions so had the chance to share. I hope this makes it clear my goal was to get information I could not find in yellow pages and I achieved that. It was not to bother people with a dumb question for which there are alternative research techniques.
- Passin_ThruExplorerWhy can't you Google Propane instead of asking everyone to do it for you. You obviously have a computer. There are 26 Propane dealers in Kissimee and Walmart, Home Depot and others have exchange bottles. Try it.

I'm with you. I had to reread goldens response a couple of times, I just couldn't believe Golden was so upset over asking where. Heck, google ft wilderness and a lot comes up. Golden thinks it's rude to ask where, yet it's ok to lambaste pog.
Wow, we go twice a year 2 weeks at a time, go off season and it's not so pricey, considering what you get without even leaving the camprground. We love meeting fellow campers there, but I think I now know one we wouldn't. LOL.
OP,NO, delivery of/filling of built in tanks is not allowed at the sites. Safety insurance concerns. www.disboards.com is the place to go for disney questions btw. - GoldencrazyExplorerAs I understand it he approached the Stanford economic development entity about the concept of the amusement park and they rejected it as making too much noise. It is first class and with good attention to the environment. I also agree that I have spent a lot more and had a lot less fun than a day at Walt Disney World.
