I wouldn't run the generator just for the fridge. It will use hardly any lp - nothing you'll notice anyway. That said, we usually put the fridge on AUTO. If we run the gen (for other things like air or TV or microwave) then the fridge will kick over to electric, otherwise it runs on LP. Set to AUTO and forget it. I used to turn off my fridge when fueling but more often than not I forget. Haven't blown up yet. I do shut the furnace off when fueling though. That's a lot of flame lower and closer to the fuel fill.
