Purchasing A Different Motorhome

Found a USED 2017 40QBH Phaeton with 10,000 miles on it. The retail is $326,648. They got it price at $240,000. Wondering if that is a good price. Also I have a 2013 36GH Phaeton with 20,000 miles to trade in, its list price is $273,700. how much do you think the different’s should be?
Thanks for all comments.

  • I don't know all the differences in these prices but a quick look at RVTrader showed the 2017 40qbh Phaeton at 239,995 to 284,860

    A 2013 36GH Phaeton sold for $174,995 through Nat'l RV
  • Just taking a quick look at NADA values, the 2013 unit has a "low retail" value of about 140,000. The price of 240,000 for the 2017 unit is a little above "low retail", so retail value is about 100,000 apart. But, the dealer probably won't give "retail" for your trade-in. I'd guess the previous suggestion of 120 - 150,000 difference is not far off.
  • I think you need to reevaluate the potential price of the 2013 Phaeton. $273,700 was the MSRP back in 2013. Today, four years later, the potential trade in value is probably less than $150,000.

The QBH price is attractive and a little suspicious so have the coach checked thoroughly. There were a lot of rigs up to and over their axles in flood waters this past summer.
  • I am having trouble on face book joining RV Pricing and Values to ask David Lester about values.
  • If it were me I would consult David Lester on facebook and have him give you an idea as to a trade value. He is very good at evaluations.

You should ask that question on the Tiffin forum as there are a lot of experienced owners there. I would guess that your 2013 would bring less than 100,000 in a trade as you have to figure the 2017 came in to the dealer for maybe 180,000.
I would be surprised if you could make a deal where the difference was less than 120-150,000.
  • no idea but you could sit down and talk numbers, see if they even come close to something you,d pay,and as your leaving the store give them your out the door figure ,that you,d pay. even ay $240k there making a big profit.
