purchasing a motorhome

I would concur with others that your best financial deal will likely be to sell the current rig outright. Depending on where you are registering you'll lose the tax advantage but you may still be better off overall. You might see what the dealers for your next rig will do, but chances are you will bleed $$$ on a trade.

What is the issue with the current rig? We looked at one before buying our Tiffin. The issues we had were we didn't want a dishwasher or a residential fridge and we thought the bunks were a bit short. The overall layout wasn't that much different from the Tiffin, just enough.

I just traded a 2014 for a 2005. One reason, at least in Texas, to trade is because you don't pay sales tax on anything unless you pay more for the new one, and then you only pay on the difference.

I can guarantee you that you will not get anywhere near the value of your current mh on trade in. Best to try and sell outright.....even then you're gonna be in the hole on it.

Just keep in mind, dealers buy at wholesale and sell at retail. If they don't make a profit on every transaction they won't be in business very long. If the coach has a loan you'll be lucky if the dealer offer will pay it off. Best option is as mentioned sell it yourself first then start shopping for the prefered floor plan.

Option 2 would be to modify the coach, if possible, to suit her wants. The cost might be less than what the trade will run you but would depend on what she doesn't like about it.

I'm with 2gypsises here, what does the wife not like about the current motorhome? Why did you buy it? Was she in on the purchase?

But, what has caught my attention even more is that you have a 2015 Honda CR-V. Are you towing it four down? Trailer? Tow dolly?

Number one, you will probably not like the 'trade-in' for your current rig. Sometimes it's better to go ahead and bite the bullet if you are really dissatisfied with your current RV and don't look back.

What doesn't she like about the motorhome? It's almost brand new why did she o.k. it in the first place? I would think she could 'adjust' for a couple more years so you don't loose a bundle.

Figure it you traded for even coaches .. you'd lose 10-20 grand to the dealer on a mid range coach ... for some it's called a bath. But a happy wife is a happy life. Just make sure she like the next floor plan !
