Pureto Penasco and Painting

I am really posting this and hoping for a response from Galvanized. I know you had your rigs graphics painted on down in PP a few years back. I am planning on going down in January of 15 and having this done and the bottom of my rig repainted. Which park do you recommend, do you have a particular painter you suggest? More importantly are you still happy with the work they did?. You can PM me..
  • I can tell you my experience. I had Antonio Geraldo do graphics inside with great results. He also does most of the graphics on exteriors in Playa Bonita and they seem to be very durable. I would use him again, he is truely an artist.

I had the guys that do most of the body work & paint in Playa Bonita repair and paint a cargo door with poor results. The next trip they stopped by and surveyed their work shortly after I arrived. This was unsolicited as I hadn't had time to go see them. They never said a word, just came back later & redid it. They did a much better job the second time, however a year later the paint doesn't look as good which I suspect is due to the quality of the paint. I won't be using them again.
  • I had work dome at Playa Bonita a couple of years ago and it still looks great. Mine was a removal of peeling clear coat, paint and then clear coat. I also know of a number of coaches that have had paint work done there and they all still look fine. If you are going with original colors, I suggest you let the guys there do the paint matching. That way, if the color isn't right, it is on their dime. I know of a guy that had paint mixed here in the states and it was no way close.

I had a Jeep hood painted and the coach above the drip line painted for a cost of $800. The cost of the coach work alone here in the states would have cost me $2500 to $3K.

I would not hesitate to have Chuey paint my coach again. He is the painter in Playa Bonita.
  • Appreciate the information, thank you....My decal graphics are a mess from the heat here in Yuma and they have be redone and I want them painted this time..
  • I also have peeling graphics and would like to have them repainted. I have already taken off about half of them (big job) and wonder if the guys in Puerto Penasco will take the graphics off or if I need to finish that myself.

They will take them off for you, no problem.

That was a mis-statement, I would use them again but would bring my own paint.
  • Bob,
If you are in the Yuma area, I have heard of some decent painters in Algodones.
  • Dennis, I have had my jeep painted in Algodones and was very happy with it. Getting into and out of there with a MH is a real chore and the prices they quote me for doing the work is three to four times what they want in Puerto Penasco. I had damage to my rig done years in PP when my truck came loose and ran into the back of me and was very pleased with the work done then. There was a young man that came up to Yuma and did the work on your lot but have not been able to find him...
