Question about switching to 6 volt batteries

Costco 6v golf cart Batts 80ea x 4 we are ft and they work great. We boondock alot, you just have to stay on top of water levels and terminal cleaning. Water check every 2 wks, terminals monthly.

I understand your problem, but I should start by telling you that your plan is good because true deep cycle 12V are a rare find.

I don't know for certain that the Costco in A2 has someone's GC2, but if you are a member, I sure would try there. Others and Sams usually do.

If you don't boondock buy the least expensive 12 volt battery. No need to pay for amp hours you won't use. Good luck.

We don't boondock much so I just replaced mine with four 12 volt deep cycle batteries from Nappa.

I bought cheap Golf Cart batteries at Sam's and after 12 years still keep 2 out of 4 as they hold some charge.
I was considering Trojans at the time, but the company had bad service reviews and all GC dealers in my area dumped the brand.
Hope they improved in last 12 years
BTW no need to run generator for the fridge.
$29 inverter will do it.

I've had the unit about 10 years and the house batteries were 1 year old. For the last 5 years or so, I've been bringing the house and chassis batteries in to the back of the garage at the end of the season and throw a charge on them every 6 weeks or so. Chassis batteries are new, the house batteries won't hold a charge anymore.

I just went through that quandary myself. The best price I could find on the T105 was $144. Went to two Costcos and asked for 6V batteries in the tire shop - the guy gives me a blank stare and says "the battery rack is over in the corner - I have no idea what's there". Looked on the rack; all they had were 12V batteries. Then I went to Batteries Plus and found the Duracells for $100 each so I ordered 2 of them I'll pick them up tomorrow and swap them out. They spec 215 ah instead of the 225 that Trojan specs, but since we never dry camp those extra 10 ah won't make a difference.

Our original Trojans are now 8 years old so if we get that much life out of the Duracells we'll be happy!

Personally, I buy Trojan's, there is a reason they cost more. When I sold my last coach, the Trojan's were original 08's and the new owners are still using them. There are cheaper wet cell batteries out there, just not better ones.

I'd say for your usage, they'd be fine. Probably get very close to the same years of usage as the Trojan's, and if not, that is where the lower upfront costs come in.

Just a comment though, I suspect your batteries are probably being charged as you are running down the highways by your alternator power source. You probably have a BIRD that will maintain both the chassis and house batteries while driving. So unless you really need the roof AC, your fridge should be supported as your driving.
