Question about Workhorse chassis on 02 Holiday Rambler

So it looks like the wife and I are going with a 2002 Holiday Rambler 30PBD. It is built on the workhorse chassis that had the brake recall and it I did confirm that it has the 8.1 (with Banks upgrad...

Is there a way I can tell from the VIN? I'm pretty sure its the 5 speed as on the tree it has 1 2 3 and then D with an O around it, so I am assuming that 4 is D and the O is 5 / overdrive?

I would assume that if it is a 4 speed it would say 1 2 D then an O around that?
