Question of license requirements across states

Hey guys... Forgive if this is a common question, but I didn't see it.

So my state only requires a standard license. My question is... If I drive across country will I need to meet licensing requirements of each state or Candian Providence I went through? Or will it be considered... I meet the requirements of my issued state so that's good enough even if I'm in a CDL state/Providence?

Thanks guys!

  • For drivers license all states honor the one from your state. Should be the same state that vehicle registration is in, but states have reciprocal agreement and honor each other's.
  • I know that here in Manitoba to insure a 3500 or higher you must insure as commercial, and I know that to haul a trailer of greater than 5540KG or 10K pounds a person requires a professional drivers license.

how ever, I know that if you came up here from ND with your 3500 and personal joe drivers license and got pulled over, they dont do anything about it.
