Believe me, from all the mechanical inspections I do, I also "hope for more". It is amazing how few take care of these complex machines.

Many are treated just like their automobile-- put gas in it and go. No or little maintenance at all.

That is why you really have to inspect closely and either find that gem out there (and they are out there) OR subtract from the price what it will take to make it a gem (far more common).
