Trail Lite R-Vision Class B+

I can't find an answer to my question in all the videos I've searched so hopefully someone can help.

I have a hot water heater that, as far as I know, only runs on propane. When I turn on the switch at the control panel, the switch lights up red, and I can hear the flame ignite, and I do get hot water.

Many years ago I had a travel trailer. When I turned on the hot water heater switch, the red light came on, as it does now. When the water was completely heated, the light turned off.

On my Class B+ the light never goes off so I don't know when the water is fully heated. What I have been doing is setting a timer after I turn on the switch to see if I have enough hot water for my purpose. I've found that I have sufficient hot water after 15 minutes, but I would think they is something indicating when I can turn off the switch other than using a timer.

Thanks.

    Welcome!

I think your water heater is fine. Please post the make and model of the appliance itself. From your description, it has Direct Spark Ignition (DSI). The "ON" Light will stay lit. Many DSI water heaters also have a smaller LED that light when you first turn the switch ON. It's actually an "It didn't Light" indicator, and goes OUT right about the time you hear the flame ignite.
Send the Make/Model. Label may be on the outside end of the unit, the end covered by the metal access door.
  • I added a Hott Rod to our water heater, to conserve propane when hooked to shore power for our Alaska trip in 2013, worked well, thermostatically controlled.

Info on your B+ can be found on this topic of over 12 years.

  • Now days LED light stays on. Old days light was incandescent and turned off.
